This interactive on diamonds is organized around 4 themes—production, processing, consumption and conflicts. Given a large amount and variety of information—charts, maps and video—I had to fit all the pieces together in a comprehensive and consistent way in a very limited space. One particular challenge was how to design a second level of navigation for a second map and chart that was only unique to the first panel. After experimenting with more tabs and links, I decided to have the charts themselves be the element of navigation, where the user clicked on the chart to toggle between the maps. This simple solution avoided an unnecessarily complex navigation, kept the relevant information together, and maintained consistency between all four panels.
